Within the prior 6 months to this report, there had been six Yowie reports from Springbrook. A Parks and Wildlife Ranger, Percy Window, said he had never been as scared in his life as the day he came face to face with a Yowie while cutting timber near the repeater station.

At first Mr, Window thought a pig was coming through the bush brushing against the trees and grunting. He walked into the bush to find the where the noise was coming from, and when he looked up after checking for tracks, he saw what he described as "This big black hairy man thing".

"It looked like a Gorilla more than anything. It had huge hands and one of them was wrapped around a sappling", he said.

The creature had a black shiny face with two big yellow eyes.

"It just stared at me and I stared back. I was so numb I couldn't even raise my axe I had in my hand. We seemed to be standing there staring at each other for about 10 minutes before it suddenly gave off a foul smell that made me vomit. Then it just made off sideways and disappeared."

After the Mr. Window reported the sighting to his Boss, he was told to keep quite about it, as not to encourage hunters into the area.

The ranger finishes by saying, "I saw this beast in daylight, about 2pm. Before then I thought they may have been comic book stuff, but no more.

They exist all right. The reason they aren’t seen much is because many people who go for bush walks make a lot of noise.

I didn't make any noise because I was trying to hunt what I thought was a pig."
